To learn more about the potential benefits of cannabinoids for your pet, read the Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association’s (JAVMA) 2013 article “Veterinary marijuana?” This article was published before the discovery of hemp’s non-psychoactive benefits, but has some insightful findings.
Another interesting source is the Journal of the American Holistic Veterinary Medical Association’s (JAHVMA) article, which first appeared in Volume 42, Spring Issue, 2016. – CONSUMERS’ PERCEPTIONS OF HEMP PRODUCTS FOR ANIMALS.
Absolutely not. Low THC CBD products are not psychoactive in any way and federally hemp, which contains 0.3% of THC (the legal limit). Anything above 0.3% is considered marijuana, and can produce the feeling of being “high”.
The only thing your pet may experience is a mellowing effect – but not mind altering – which may promote calmness. Giving too much of our product to your pet may cause some temporary drowsiness.
There should be none as long as the suggested serving allotments are followed. When adding cannabinoid therapy to your dog or cats daily regimen, be mindful not to administer too much oil, as it may cause temporary drowsiness. Additionally, too much of any type of oil, in general, can cause dogs to have an upset stomach and potential diarrhea. Stick to the recommended serving sizes to ensure a healthy and happy pet!
The manufacturers we recommend are tested by third-party labs to ensure the extracts are from non-GMO hemp that is grown without the use of herbicides, pesticides, or chemical fertilizers. All of their products were created under the strictest of standards.
All products are made with only 100% food grade ingredients and no GMOs. If you have any remaining concerns over specific ingredients, ask your veterinarian. If your pet has sensitivities, it is best to use capsule or liquid products, rather than treats found on the market (which have many more food ingredients). If your furry friend doesn’t like taking capsules, simply open the capsule, then sprinkle the contents into your pet’s approved food.
Although you should not have to make any adjustments to your current medications or supplements, we strongly suggest you contact your Veterinarian first just to be sure.
Hemp extract pet products operate along a completely separate biochemical pathway – the endocannabinoid system – from any products or medications you currently use. You can add cannabinoid therapy alongside your existing regimen of products, and should expect your pet to feel the cumulative benefits. However, we STRONGLY suggest you check with your veterinarian first to ensure safety.
OTHER ANIMALS: Are hemp products only for dogs and cats, or can I give it to my other pets (i.e. rabbit, horse, etc.)?
Hemp products are considered safe enough to be administered to any vertebrate animal. Hemp extracts are NOT pharmaceuticals. It is an organic, plant-based, non-GMO nutritional product that you can feed your pet with total confidence and ease. The hemp products we recommend are not genetically modified and do not contain pesticides, solvents, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers.
